Shinomiya, a junior, and Hatano, her senior, despise each other. They’re both members of the same university club. The morning after a club drinking party, they wake up naked in the same bed and realise they’ve committed a night’s mistake — and swear to each other that they’ll forget it ever happened.
As they each get on with university life, Hatano comes to learn that Shinomiya — whom she can’t stand — is a dropout from a family of artists, and that her self-destructive way of living stems from exactly that. Hatano herself is an aspiring novelist — a creative in a different field — and she finds herself unable to look away from Shinomiya, recognising in her the same loneliness, the same lack.
Awkwardly, haltingly, they begin to spend time together — and find themselves drawn to each other.
This is the story of two people who hate each other, learning to walk through life side by side.
