Episode 1: A Magical Girl’s Job

Overdeveloped science is indistinguishable from magic.
And so, the masses called it magic.

“From HQ to [Strawberry Pink]. You are authorised to use [magic].”
“That was quick. Did someone die?”
“…[Viola Purple] has lost contact, and an explosion has occurred in Block B.”

The girl let out a low whistle.
Another day, another night. Another run, another job.
Her comrades died, the terrorists gained momentum, and the girl’s work always began in circumstances like these. So today, too, her lovely voice rang out into the night sky, carrying just a little loneliness and a heart full of excitement.

“‘For peace and for tranquillity.’”

An incantation.
Floating M-particles, the radiance of magic power.
The Magus Engine embedded in the girl’s heart sprang to life, and pink light dyed the skies above the forest of skyscrapers. A shadow fell, and within it, the girl began to transform.

“‘For the sake of order, this shall be forged, and its power wielded by leave divine.’”

Her black twin tails turned pink.
The pink hoodie she had worn home from school enveloped her body like an elaborately ornamented dress.

“‘Therefore…‘”

Her eyes flew wide, glowing pink and sparkling as though scattered with stars.
Her lips, weaving the incantation, were tinted to reflect the flush of excitement rising within her.
Chrome-steel gloves adorned her slender fingers.
From her exposed chest, a rod protruded.
Her white fingers reached out and pulled it free.

“‘Thou art without sin.’”

A staff: a magic cyberdeck.
A dress: magic cyberwear.
Magic power, M-particles, invading at the cellular level, shining so fiercely that they painted over her hair and eyes.

“[Strawberry Pink]! Answering the call and making my grand entrance!”

The work of the girl [Momotsuki Haruka] had begun, just as it always did.
